For all group members the second photograph is due tomorrow morning. Please post them on your blog so i can see that you are making progress with this project. There will be a online meeting. Email preferred since i will be on the road, traveling tomorrow morning around that time. The email meeting is around 9:30am. Please send me your contact sheet of the landscape you have shot.

Giving all the team members a heads up! your 2nd photograph is alreadly be done and posted on your blog. If you cant not post it on your blog for some reason, please hand them into me on Tues. 13th,(USB/hardrive) we will meet at CCAD, in the crane building, to collect photographs and put together all the photos. Also, all imagines should be on the website page aswell. Select your favorite photos out of your 2 contact sheets and put them on your personal page on our team website. (If you can not do it, i will be more then happy to put the photos in for you.) The meeting will be at 9:30 Tuesday morning. Please dont be late and arrive on time. We got alot of work to do! Also, bring your laptops and your usb/hardrives to give me your photographs. I will give you all more information when you arrive at 9:30. This will not take too long. I will need to make sure everything is on track and we have a great piece to present in the end, on Thursday. I will see you all there!

Team members: Go out and find a unique location and photograph it! get going on this project so you can explore more locations then just one in a hurry. I asked each member to record their reactions on the location they picked, and if started shooting thats awesome, post some contact sheets. I have also updated the website for each one of you, when you get photos posted, please give them to me through USB when we meet up. I will individual post them on your website page to get you all started.

My location is an open field in Columbus Ohio, The reason why i picked this location was because the presence of this location used to be an old factory. Anything in the past makes everything alot more interesting, because you can always look it up and see what it used to look like and how it worked.

Schedule for the next 3 weeks:

Goal: Every due date you see listed turn in ONE photograph you think described that landscape very well. You will turn it into me, or email it to me. If we meet up, please give me the photograph through USB (or any other devices). At the end of the last week, each member should have 2 photos. Including mine we will combine all of the 8 photos together to make a panorama piece This will be printed out and published on a board and also on our website.

2/28/2012 - introduction, getting started, what the project is about. review of scheduling, and questions.
First process- take photographs of landscape to turn in and post on website Thursdays every week. (first photograph is due on 3/6/2012. Post to your page on the website to show in-progress photos. You don’t technically have to write anything on your page, its up you what you want to do to show progress. At least 10 (or more) images will have to be posted on that Thursday to show progress and to share your work with the world. Also Each Thursday the same assignment will be assigned, but this time a different location.

Project Ron Saks: "The landscape of an Artist"

It all starts here...

For this project, i want to capture photographs within cities as landscape. Such as Columbus, ohio or Dayton, ohio. The more cities, the better. I then want to collage them in photoshop and stitch all the photographs together that the group shot. I also would like to make a website, that shows each artist page and their work that they explored in the city. I feel as if anyone in my group (4 artist) will enjoy doing this project and travel on their own time to collect the assignments each week with a group meeting. I also have lenses to lend out, marco, wide angel and telephoto lenses to explore all the styles of landscaping. If an artist in my group does not want to take photographs of cities, then the experience of photoshop or final cut will be applied and used toward their work they produce.

The basic idea behind this project is I want my group of 4 individuals to express what they feel in landscape, whether its in their city or a city they live in, or even traveling to...I also want the group members to get alittle bit more creative and use photoshop (as an option) to determine the idea towards the viewer. I would also like each group member to be dedicated to their website page that they will soon have to create and keep it clean and orgainzed for the audience to view easily. On that page it will display your artwork of the photographs taken and a small description or paragraph explaining the environment you chose to photograph. Towards the end of the project, (the last week) I will create a "group page" that displays everyone's landscape into one photograph. I would also like to publish this art piece for others to see in person. A discussion will come later on the final piece of the artwork we will be turning in as a group. Other creative ideas are always welcome! I will have a website called the "The Landscape of an Artist" This is not a set and stone name for the website, its just an idea to where i am taking this. We will discuss as a group towards the website name, the over-all view of what the project is and what times are flexible for scheduling. There is more to discuss in the group and everyone will be on the right and same page. Check- ups will be recorded as well, meaning i will check up on your status of the photographs you are producing.

When it comes to taking photographs of landscape, i would like you to capture the environment that it's set in. Make it feel alive and like the viewer is standing in that space. If photoshop is needed, that is fine aswell. The goal is to make it as real as possible but creative too. Landscape is a very broad subject when it comes to photography, so i am narrowing it down to landscape as an environmental space. A location that has many or very less information included in it.You can take as many photographs as you would like to achieve the look you were searching for. A single image is due by that week, on your website page.Its up to you to where and what location you want to photograph. I would rather leave out any figures, because it will get too personally and we would have to have to give out forms to sign. Because these photos are posting online i would rather stay away from that. Again, this is just my idea on the whole project, other ideas will come up when the group is coming together as a whole.

*Side note: because of the panorama sequences we will be using to put all of our photographs together will either need to be in color or B&W. Color i would prefer, so we can convert the photographs into B&W if needed. We really want to achieve a realistic environment for the viewers.

I re-shot the wings and captured a more interesting composition. Also as i was thinking through out the work, it occurs to me i had something going on with the wings. I want to keep a repeatably flow going on so i decided to take close of photographs of the wings against a textured background.

Body language through photographs are always very interesting. Capturing the key notes of an person and technology not their whole identity. I find it curious to crop or photograph the personality trait to the human being.

The wings are pressed up against a brick wall to show contrast, and a imagination of what the wings could possibly be for an individual. The light is coming from above, which can be a concept of faith, hope and belief. The reason why i chose something so simple is to demonstrate art through a less complex way.

The silent horror film has an environment during the 1900s, which gave the plot of the story an even more interesting feeling. The over the top dramatic expressions showed the audience how the character felt and explained by text what exactly is going on. The story is about an fair that is going on in town and a man wants to amaze the people by showing them Cesare, the Somnambulist which can answer anyone's questions. Deaths occur around the respond around town, blaming other criminals instead of Cesare. Eventually Cesare gets caught in action stealing a girl from her home. The film ends by tricking the audience into thinking most of his imagination are real but instead he plays with his mind in a mental hospital.

I really enjoyed the edgy style used in this film.

If i were to do any project i would want to keep achieving to the point where i feel comfortable with the work i processed. Also, if i were to brand myself, i wouldn't want to post any work that didnt mean very much to me or my concept behind each photograph. Ive decided to re-shoot for this project and make it more of what im proud to show instead of easliy getting by with the work provided. Diving into this project i thought i knew what i wanted to do, but its hard to truely find out until you take acouple of chances and go out and explore your ideas first before the first assignment is due.

traveling wings....?

This is my contact sheet, i did not post many imagines, because i was practicing with figure ground, tonight i will upload the photoshoot i will proceed with. I feel as if this traveling wings photoshoot was too easy for me as a photographer. I want to exceed alittle more, with being more creative and very unique. I would also like to combine my style of fashion and fantasy within this project.

While today passed by, i was thinking of a new idea, and new object to photograph. I am thinking more of doing angel wings, making the figure blend within the landscape and making the landscape more dominant. The traveling theme got me thinking of using angel wings to demonstrate freedom and being able to travel around the world, or even just around the local hometown. I will be looking out for interesting locations and landscape to photograph the angel wings with. Im unsure if i want to manipulate the viewer or keeping it more like a puzzle. we will find out tomorrow!

Ive explored the idea of traveling wings and its still not soaring my creativity. Its almost like im limiting my idea choice to what i could really do. Ive got another idea, which involves alot of hair or alot of fabric. Possibly even both...I will get started on it tonight and we will see the outcome to the beginning of this project.

Traveling has always been in my life. There are many ideas i could use with projects, i just need to stick with one and do not fall through with it. My idea is taking a vintage traveling case to different locations. Moving an object around, fascinates me by being so simple but yet so interesting. This is just an idea that came to mind today. I might end up changing it later on, over the weekend if i see anything that inspires me. For right now, this idea is settled at the time.

creating a photoshoot (final project)

My ideas behind a photoshoot come from inspiration and imagination. A concept is created and a particular interesting object or nature is always involved. I want to explore more into direct fashion photography with a unique twist to it. I want to transform models into animals. A particular animal they are interested in or collects with more towards their features. Ive had this idea for awhile, its time to make it possible!

what influences me to making this possible is looking back on my earlier work. Ive had this idea for years, but waiting on the right time really explore it and make a beautiful collection out fo it.

Dreamer or Doer...or both?

Its hard to say what exactly your craving in life. Its also hard to choose between two, when you can be or become both. Its all up to the artist to exceed as far as they tend too. these characteristic traits found in dreamer or doers carry with every artist ready to create. Sometimes you can be more of one then the other. As an artist and fashion photographer I dream and doer. Going beyond the line of imagination with a twist of realistic adventures combines a dreamer and doer together. I tend to lean more towards Dreamer because of many reasons. My line of work i produce describes the focal point of what i want to achieve in many art pieces, aswell as make it something new and exciting for the world to see. As i think more about the question, a dreamer and doer seem to be closer with relationship then i thought. You have to relieve on both to make the art happen. As for me, i accept more then offers. exploring beyond the deal, and stretching the idea further to see what the outcome could or will be. confidence in an artist is always key.

Achieving what has not been exceeded comes with success. I want to explore more of animation and cinematic through out this semester in media for design. I have done short animations, with storyboards and a complete look at what it takes to create an animation film. Cinematic is new to me, which gives me more motivation to learn more about this subject. Photography is in my blood. I capture every detail of value, structure, fashion, motion and ect. Goals are always important in life, without them we would be stuck. My goal is to always take that chance and risk the opportunity. Whether its being a artist who wants an successful career or a student always wanting to learn more. In this course i will accomplish many possibilities. Being active, knowledgeable, and having inspiration will drive my abilities to accomplish anything that is given in this course. Pride comes a long way for an artist. I take pride in all the photographs i take or develop. Every photograph is a creation from memory, or imagination for me in my work. In many of my creative portraits series i strive for that imagine in my head. A photograph can never lose its time.
